I don't know. Gawain's stallion is probably the smartest horse I've seen. But that's probably because he has to make up for his rider.

I haven't. I've never actually ever named any of my horses. [Just like in the legends, he has a habit of running his horses into the ground to get into battle quickly.] Maybe I should, seeing as it's going to be at least three years before she's even ready for a rider.

"And yet, you didn't listen and now you can't tell jack from shit." [She throws Oni a threatening look, guarding the pot and ready to pounce like a club bouncer if necessary.] "I said, it's not ready. It needs another minute."

"I dunno what fuckin' alchemy you expect t'transpire in the next few minutes, but--" Seeing Nora guard the pot like a broody hen, the she-wolf backs away, her hands held up in mock-surrender, a smile on her face. "D'accord. Just calm yer tits, alright? I'm waiting..."

Nora's not ready to take Oni at her word, so even though she leans away from the pot, her mixin' spoon is ready. "Mmmhmm, dat's right. Back dat ass up, back up." She grunts at Oni's words and nods over to the cabinet. "You'll find serving bowls and plates there. We gonna eat like normal people and we won't be sticking our heads into the pot and shoveling food into our mouths. Hell, we might even say grace."

Probably a wise decision on Nora's part. Not that Oni's word isn't generally good, but not for nothing is she sometimes known as the Bottomless Pit. Food has been known to vanish with astonishing quickness in her general vicinity, to the point where preemptively feeding the Ahroun (lest she help herself to whatever's in the kitchen) is considered a legit cost of doing business at the Year of the Rat.

Seriously. She's a write-off on their taxes.

"Th'fuck do either of us know about normal people," she snorts, making air-quotes with her fingers while she heads to the cabinet. Sure, Nora may not turn into ten feet, twelve hundred pounds of kiss your ass goodbye, but normal, everyday people don't take calls from the dead either.

"I don't think y'want me sayin' Grace. Th'bolt of lightning might miss me and hit you," she grins, setting the table. Is it set correctly? Fuck no, but it's done and Nora should take the win.

She does take the win, grunting in agreement and admonishment with that long drawn out mmmmmmmmhm that makes anyone think twice about what they just said, uncertain where they went wrong but feeling it down into their bones that they did.

"Knowing my luck, that's exactly right." She mumbles while putting the Jambalaya in a serving dish and betraying the fact that her ass used to love throwing dinner parties. And yes, how cliched can you get, but this was her family recipe. Meaning it's just better.

"But this only turns out good when my great, great, great grandfather allows me to make it. He's one them people who believe in too much of a good thing. I only get to make it a few times a year."

Nora throws Oni a long look. "And he liked saying grace." She nods to the table.
