No, I did not. But it always seems to find me in the end anyway.

It was only a matter of time before it found you. Any job where you're made to investigate reality will eventually lead you to where the veil is thinnest, or where it has been breached.

That used to infer to the morality of mankind and how thin the line can be between a good man and a man that finds his way into the darkest depths of hell on earth. Nothing supernatural.

Now, I know that's not all there is. Now I know there are...other things out there, beyond what we see right in front of us.

Amusing that you had to specify: "on Earth." Because now you know. Perhaps you had always known. But there comes a certain flavor of desperation, hubris, desire, despair, or ambition that makes a human reach out to the Hell that lays beyond earthly delineation. We supposedly all know it, after all - genetic memory from Adam and Eve and the knowledge of all good and evil.

What have you seen, agent?

Don't know about Biblical portents, but I have...seen some things that shouldn't really be on Earth. That one could say were manifestations from another dimension. Things that were...dark.

Doubt isn't the word I'd use.

Disoriented, confused, still piecing all the broken pieces together...trying to ensure my memories are my memories...

But there were no Biblical demons or angels or any of that. It was something else. Somewhere else.

Or, fuck, what do I know. Maybe it was Hell. Close enough.

I'm not surprised. The universe is a vast place.

I could show you Biblical Hell, if you're interested. For your own peace of mind. However, if you're already on the verge of insanity, I'm not sure you'd survive it.

I'm not sure why anyone would make that offer, much less take it up. I've seen enough of Hell on Earth and in that Dark Place. I don't need more of it in any form.

...It's a long story. Here's the abridged version: writer gets stuck in extra-dimensional place of power, writer tries use that power to write himself out of this dark place, lots of people get fucked over by writer's story.

How interesting! I imagine in such a situation, this writer got quite desperate and creative?

That's one way to put it. Although he was always worried about keeping it inside the genre so that it would work. It was a horror story, not an adventure unfortunately.

So it only works within the genre. That does make sense to me. It might also depends on how that place of powers work.

Was he too afraid to try other routes, or he did and suffer for it?

He tried dozens of routes, hundreds, thousands maybe. All spiraling out of control. We all suffered for it.
