Are... you saying to be myself? Isn't that the opposite of acting?

Aren't you human? Don't you know what it's like to be a person? If you can be that, you can be anyone.

Yeah, I'm human, but it sounds easier for you than for me. Not all humans are the same. Some of them have lived through things that I haven't.

Acting comes naturally to me, but maybe it's even more natural for you if you can just slip into any role. I usually need practice and preparation.

Anyone's better with practice and preparation, but life can be merciless and sometimes, you're not so fortunate.

[ Luke has had a few problems lately, but they're the normal kind of problem. That kind of answer suggests they've had very different lives. ]

Me? I'm Luke Davis.

[ He offers her a bright smile. ]

What's yours? Maybe I've heard of you.

Luke, then. Don't count on it, these days I'm all bit parts. They're barely paid, much less remembered.

( Eloisa narrows her eyes at him for a moment, as if she's considering something, making a logical calculation. Then, she says, smiling sharply. )

My name is Elvira Paolo. If you remember it tomorrow, that'll be more recognition than I've gotten for years.

I'll do something better if you promise to remember my name when I make it big. If you tell me a movie you've played in, I'll watch it this weekend. If it's really good, I can show it to my friends in the drama department.

[ He's still in college, so. ]

She throws out the title like an afterthought, like it means nothing. )

I played Titania in Gallinari's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Watch that with your friends.

[ Luke consumed a lot of movies, but Gallinari isn't coming to mind. A Midsummer Night's Dream is an obviously famous play, but. ]

If it's the same as Shakespeare's, that's a pretty big role. She might not be a main character, but she drives a lot of the side plot, and any good story needs more than just the main conflict.

I don't know Gallinari, though. Did I hear it right?

( A shrug, languid, slow. )

Italian director, very big back home. I was his muse while I was at the top of my game. These days, he doesn't even call anymore, of course. That's men for you, yes? What can you do.

I'll look him up. It'll be really interesting to see if his take is any different than the popular one. But he'll lose points for bad taste.

[ Luke nods in understanding. He's just out of a long-term relationship himself so he can sympathize. ]

You're a sophisticated actress who's been the muse for a big-time director.

[ Italian director = sophisticated. ]

Your phone is probably ringing so much that it's annoying.

[ Though it may sound as if he's shooting his shot, it's his earnest opinion. Hot women don't usually have a hard time finding men. ]

No one ever truly loses points for bad taste. ( She cocks her head at him, letting her eyes run up and down his frame very blatantly before smiling, all edges and curves. As if to prove her point, ) You're right. My phone is ringing so often, because it's so often they need a good-looking girl who's willing to lounge in a bra in the background for twenty bucks.

( Walking up to him, she puts a finger to his nose, booping it. )

Bit parts, darling. That's what you're toying with.

[ Luke blinks. Was he just bopped? He was bopped. That's been a while. ]

Most of us want to play the lead, yeah.

[ He can't deny it. Luke can too easily recall his excitement at getting the lead in the drama department play. ]

But it sounds like you've done more than most actors will get a chance to do. I'm still studying so unless you count the stuff we do in school, you're dealing with a no part guy.

[ Still, he grins proudly. ]

But I did the the lead there, and the guy who's directing is a pain in my ass but he's the son of real directors, and he's making a name for himself, too.
