People often remember the foul instead of the noble deeds. It helps, in a manner, because fear is more stable to command than something as fickle as admiration and something as scarce as gratitude.

Nevertheless, you should choose something else to describe you if such a thing is ill-fit. History is filled with kinslayers. That is how civilization of any kind progresses.

The foul deeds do tend to put an unflattering stain on all that came before it. Still... one can't help but feel a bit bitter about the fact that it makes people think I was always like a rabid wolf stalking the lands. I suppose it's a more comforting view than to admit that it was a process, because that would mean I was not simply born wrong but that it is something that could happen to anyone. That if put under enough pressure they too might fall just as far.

It is not ill-fit, it is the truth after all. But it is only one facet of it. I am more than simply the worst part of myself.

You can choose another label if you think that one is incomplete. Nobody stops you. Is there anyone in this place that judges you other than yourself?

I could, I suppose. But it's the short labels that sticks with people. They don't want the complete picture, that's too complicated, they want something that feels simpler. Something they don't have to examine too hard. No, I have not met many here who would hold my sins against me as harshly as I myself do.

Suit yourself. I will say this: as someone who lives in a land full of Sinners. None of them admit to their transgressions as freely as you or show repentance for their inherent nature. You should be at ease with your conscience because of that.

Perhaps... yet I think my fell deeds will continue to pain me for a very long time indeed.

Look for "atonement" —  [ The Sinners she has forsaken could never do it. They would lament as they hear the bells toll but forget about it soon enough, condemning their savior's services, fearing retribution. ] Submit to a judgment to measure your transgressions and your good deeds. If you cannot live well under its weight, you might find some relief this way.
