You and whoever replies to you are stuck together after falling in a hole.

You're in a deep, dark pit that you can't climb out of easily, and you're trapped together. Maybe it was a trapping pit, maybe it was an open manhole cover, maybe an uncovered well or elaborate secret trap in a spooky house - but whatever the cause was, you two fell for it. Literally.

[Fuu might not have been able to stop herself from falling, but at least she can keep herself (and whoever fell with her) from going splat by hastily casting a shield of wind below them before they smack into the ground.]

[True, Usagi was able to hastily turn into Sailor Moon in an attempt to save herself and Fuu, but the two of them did hit the ground even with the wind shield buffering them.]

Ow... a-are you okay?

Ah... [Fuu winces and sits up, looking her new friend up and down. That was definitely a flash of light, and that's definitely a magical girl's outfit, isn't it?] Yes, I think I am, between the both of our skills.

[Gansey, after everything he's been through, is no stranger to magic. He is not, however, expecting it to come from a stranger he just happened to be walking by when the ground suddenly collapsed under them.

Which is why his first reaction upon safely landing is a quiet, thoughtful,] Huh. [before he gets his act together enough to turn to her with a far more composed face, though not lacking curiosity, and say] Thank you.

[It's a bit surprising that this young man isn't more shocked to see magic, or for that matter, to have fallen down a large hole in the first place. But there's certainly nothing wrong with a healthy sense of composure.]

You're quite welcome. [She stands up, dusting herself off.] I've never had to use that spell quite like that before. It's a relief that it worked.

[It's not that he's not surprised. More that he's accustomed both to surprising things happening around him and to not letting on just how thrown he might be. He stands as well, and once he's satisfied that neither of them were hurt, his gaze turns to the area around them to see if there's a good way back out of here.]

If you don't mind my asking, how do you usually use it?

The shield magic? Usually to deflect an attack by an enemy. Of course, the ground could count as an enemy, when falling from that high up... metaphorically.

Oh, but we should introduce ourselves, shouldn't we? [She gives him a polite bow, as though they were just here to work on a school project together.] My name is Fuu Hououji.

Gansey. [He replies politely, though the bow is unusual enough to him that he doesn't think to respond in kind. At least not quickly enough for it to not be awkward, at which point he chooses not to. He's far more used to handshakes.

He's also used to people who have magical powers keeping it far more hidden, which puts a lot of scrutiny and curiosity behind his generally friendly and polite demeanor. He's not sure what that means. Maybe it's that it was necessary and she's good at staying composed. Maybe she's naively unconcerned about it the way he'd been perhaps too open with his hunt for Glendower. Maybe she's just powerful enough to not be worried about any danger it might attract. Such easy talk of enemies might be a point toward the latter.]
