[Tsume had been out hunting. He could have just gotten enough food for himself but...well, could he really leave the scrawny little runt all on his own? Toboe had been raised by humans, and while that didn't mean his skills in hunting down animals was completely atrophied, they still weren't up to the same level as a wolf raised by a pack.

He'd eaten his fill of one rabbit he'd caught and took up the second particularly fat one, dropping it at Toboe's feet. His voice was a little gruff when he spoke.]

You're too skinny. Eat up.

[ Toboe can hunt giant walruses! The problem is getting him to that point because he still lacks a lot of natural wolf instincts. So it's true: he relies on the rest of the pack a lot, instead.

Or relies on human kindness too, although that's harder to come by.

When Tsume arrives with a whole rabbit for him, Toboe's ears perk up, staring at the food and then back at Tsume]

For me?! [ oh boy he is getting excited now ] Really?! The whole thing?!

[Though he wouldn't have admitted it even under the threat of torture, there was something utterly endearing about Toboe's enthusiasm when Tsume gave him the rabbit. He tried to maintain his air of aloof independence, trying to act like it was no big deal.]

I managed to catch two of 'em. Figured you could use one with how small you are.

[On that note at least he had a point. Toboe wasn't going to continue to grow if he didn't get a lot of regular meals in.]

[ Toboe takes it, of course, and it doesn't take him long to sink his teeth into the food and start chewing. ]

I'm small because I'm still growing. [ he is pouting, that much is clear ] I will get really big - like Hige. [ is he calling Hige chubby? Perhaps.

He pauses though, looking back at Tsume, before he comes closer ] We should share, do you want some, too? [ he knows Tsume caught another rabbit for himself, but it feels right to share his rabbit, anyway ]

If you grew any slower, you’d be going backwards and shrinking instead of getting bigger.

[Still, he had noticed the young wolf had been growing, getting more muscular in the chest and shoulder area; and finally growing more into those long legs of his so he no longer looked like he was standing on four stilts.]

If your goal in life is to get as big as that porker, you’re going to need to start eating six or seven meals a day.

[A fat wolf meant one of two things: either one was a good enough hunter to keep finding lots of prey or had a big appetite that someone else was feeding.

He was taken aback at first when Toboe offered him a bite. Then he smiled. The runt had such a soft heart sometimes and Tsume couldn’t help but find it a little endearing.]

Okay.

[He took a few bites from their now-shared meal.]
