A new year and a fresh start

Yes, it's that time of year, time to set yourself to a strict regimen of self-improvement and wild optimism about your own sense of discipline. Whether it's a plan to eat 5 fresh fruits and vegetables a day, to be more emotionally honest, or to stop letting that demon in your head use your body to go on murderous rampages, declare it before one and all.

1. Post your character!
2. In your character's toplevel, write down one or more New Years' resolutions that they will really, really try to follow.
3. Tag around and commentate!

No. It wasn't easy at all. But this time I think the changes I'm making will stick.

Do you have any suggestions for what kind of habits?

I don't know your current habits, but I can try.

Impatience can make us angry and rude. Learning to slow down and appreciate each moment makes it easier to be patient.

It also helps to remember that other people exist even when you're not around them. If you can learn that, compassion comes easier. I could judge you for not being kind and compassionate enough, but I don't know how mean you really are, or why you feel like you need to change. Those are things I think about when I'm forgiving myself for mistakes so why shouldn't I do the same for you?

Remembering other people matter.... [He sighed.] That's going to be a big one. When your every whim is catered to, it's easy to forget that other people have feelings and wants and needs of their own.

That may be difficult, but being selfish will always be easier.

[ But it sounds like this... Person? He speaks like a man. It sounds like this man is wealthy. Admittedly, that comes with privealge that makes it easier to assume the world owes you. ]

But the reward for remembering will last a lot longer than a moment of selfishness.

That is a hard lesson. And one I've been learning for almost ten years now.

[But at least he was finally getting better at it!]
