It's a title some have given me. And it's mostly because I'm more powerful than most of them...

That's an impressive title! So maybe the other mages aren't bad even if they're not as good as you. That'll probably make them happy to hear that.

I suppose. I can show you my favorite spell, if you'd like.

[ She steps back a pace and then her staff lifts and - in a burst of light and petals they're surrounded by a field of wildflowers. ]

[ Fai looks around in amazement and with a small amount of envy. She can so easily do what he cannot: create. His magic can only destroy and yet with ease, this girl has created an entire field of beauty.

Still smiling, he bends down to pick a flower and hold it out to her. ]

No. A human.

[ She sounds a touch fond. ]

[ She repeats, voice neutral. She has conflicting feelings toward humans. Although she despises the Human Order and the ones who drove her counterpart away from her claim, she does not resent the ones in her kingdom as much as she does with the other fae. ]

Why must it be so? Why can't both times align together?

That I cannot say. Perhaps it's just a matter of the gulf between us. Elves are long-lived; we do not often seek romance or to reproduce. Humans are shorter-lived... but they can accomplish so much when they put their minds to it.

[gaeaf]

You do not create progeny in another way?

[ Faeries in Britain are infertile as humans are. No, they are because that "humanity" is. But they repopulate with other means. ]

It will be a shame. A world dominated by only humans will lose its magic. It will become grey, polluted, and twisted, breaking any covenant with nature. In the end, they will ravage its resources and destroy their own future.

We recreate the same as humans. But I think we lack the same drive to do so...

[ Or it could just be her, jury is out on that one. ]

And I don't think that's true. At least not in my world - some of the most skilled and worthwhile magicians have been humans.

I see. [ A beat. This isn't a topic she will usually bring up.  ] Have your people tried aphrodisiacs? You will become extinct if you do not reproduce.

Give them time. Unless the majority have access to this, they will abandon it for science. Their consumerism nature may yet to stir.
